Ottawa-Carleton District School Board
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is the largest school board in Ottawa and offers students and parents a world of choice for education, growth, and achievement. Our 147 schools offer a wide range of programs to promote learning excellence and meet the individual needs of students, parents, and the community at large.
All of our schools are teaching communities where our principals, vice-principals, teachers, and support staff nurture and challenge students to achieve their best in academics, the arts, athletics, and technology.
Everyone Is Welcome Here
We are dedicated to providing a welcoming environment to parents, students, and staff in all our schools. Cultural diversity is an important part of our community and is contributing to the growth and vibrancy of Ottawa.
We value, embrace, and encourage diversity in our schools believing that it builds a stronger community and contributes to learning and growth. We are proud to teach, live, and share the things that we have in common while celebrating what makes us unique.
Your Child Is Safe with Us
A child feels free to learn and achieve in an environment where they feel cared for and protected. We take our responsibility to create safe schools for all our students seriously. We create safe and caring schools and dedicate ourselves to working with all our communities to ensure that students can learn in a safe, secure, and welcoming school.
We Celebrate Success
Wonderful stories of student achievement, staff commitment, and community involvement are happening in our schools every day. From the school supplies collected for students in Third World countries to blood donor clinics to snowsuits and Thanksgiving dinners for those less fortunate, our schools are vibrant communities of giving, caring, and sharing.
Ottawa Catholic School Board
The Ottawa Catholic School Board has 80 schools serving students across the City of Ottawa. There are 63 elementary schools, 2 intermediate schools and 15 high schools. We also have 1 adult high school and 4 adult education centres. There are approximately 39,000 students in the Board, receiving quality Catholic education guided by a professional staff of more than 2,400 teachers, department heads, vice-principals, principals, consultants and coordinators. For over a century, parents have entrusted their children to local Catholic schools, confident that they would be receiving a distinctive education with a special emphasis on spiritual growth.
We offer students at our community schools a comprehensive Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 program, which includes an extensive French Language program, English as a Second Language, Special Education, Physical Education and the Arts. A comprehensive Safe Schools Policyis in place because we believe that students, parents, staff and members of the community have the right to expect schools to be safe and free of violence. Our goal is to enable students to reach their full potential spiritually, intellectually, physically, socially and emotionally. The outstanding extracurricular activities offered at our elementary and secondary schools build confidence and self-esteem in students and create school spirit. We offer a state-of-the-art technology program, which includes computer labs in every school, computers in every classroom and an excellent computer-to-student ratio.
Early Learning Services (formerly Child Care Services) are operated by an independent child care corporation. Full fee and subsidized spaces are available at several of our schools. Transportationis provided to all eligible kindergarten, elementary and high school students - as well as safe transportation of special needs students. The Board also operates St. Nicholas Adult High Schooland annually graduates more than 100 students.
